Offley & Stopsley, 174-4 Vs Pirton,115-5

OSCC Lost by 5 Wkts

A bouyant Offley Stopsley lost an exciting encounter with Pirton by 5 wkts with only 3 balls to spare in this Semi Final of the Herts Mi9dweek Cup.

Skipper Bexfield won the toss and decided to bat, opening with the big hitters Richie Barker and Mark Tattersall. An initial good couple of overs got the innings off to a decent start but when Barker was given a harsh LBW and Tattersall followed immediatley after the innings went into a slow and painfull decline. Choudry hit out for a quick 16 but noone really got going against a skillfull Pirton attack.

Bexfield (36) and Keeley(12) repaired the damage slightly with a late partenrship of 27 in 3 overs to give the innings some respectability and set Pirton a target of 115 to win.

Qumar and Tattersall opened the bowling for OSCC and failed to take a wicket in their 4 overs each, although both bowled tight lines. At 44-0 Pirton were well set until Keeley and Freeman came on. Freeman removed the opener Cree with a snorter and then Keeley removed the dangerous alrounder Groves for only 1 and the match had turned round.

Offley kept the pressure on although not quite enough, the sixth wicket pair taking advantage of some good luck and slightly poor fielding to put on 29 runs to take Pirton to the final with only 3 balls to spare and repeat the result of last years semi-final.
