It matters not who won or lost but how you spread the blame. Thats worth keeping in mind when carrying out the autopsy on a truly catastrophic performance that left Offleys North Herts title hopes hanging in the balance.
There was plenty of blame to go around after Martin Bigmore (66) and Mark Tattersall (48 not out from 24 balls) helped Offley post a challenging total on a Crawley Green wicket that has rarely been conducive to successful run chases.
Offley failed to protect 206 by simultaneously producing their worst bowling and fielding performance. Handicapped by a number of fielders who would have struggled to pass a fitness test and at least one who would have failed the breathalyser, Offley slid to defeat amid a welter of long hops, miss-fields and general incompetence. Nomads couldn't believe their luck!
All in all the less said about it the better and if anyone wants to read an in-depth match report they can find someone who was there and write it themselves.
