Offley & Stopsley Vs Stevenage II's 103-3; 27th Aug

Match Abandoned after 18.1 overs due to rain

The title chase will go down to the last match of the season at home to Sawbridgeworth II's next week after torrential rain ended this top of the table clash.

Matthew Freeman struck with only the 2nd ball of the day with an LBW, great start to be sure, however things were to go bad before they got better. Some magnificent hitting from the no.3 accelerated Stevenage's score quickly through the gears, taking them to 50 in only 7 overs. Indeed after 12 overs they were on 88-1 and going like a steam roller.

Chris Austin's smart stumping off Richie Barker ended the partership on 98 and then the dangerous no.3 top edged a pull to be caught by Darren Lunney at square leg. Just as OSCC had got back into the game the first drops of rain were felt.

Within seconds a biblical deluge had begun that put paid to the days play. The match was eventually abandoned 30 minutes later with the pitch practically under water.

10 points for the draw then, a result that suits OSCC far more than Stevenage II's. With a lead of 12 points a victory next week is still required, but the title is there for us to lose. A win next week and the League is ours.
